garden design profile

Janet Bligh established her garden design practice in London in 2000, relocating to Hampshire shortly afterwards. She has a Diploma in Garden Design from the Pickard School of Garden Design, and a City & Guilds certificate in Plants & Planting Design.

In 2001, together with fellow students from the Pickard School, Janet was awarded a Silver Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the Tastevin Courtyard Garden.

The majority of our work is in South East England, in particular Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex. Working around this area provides the opportunity to design gardens across a wide variety of site conditions including seaside gardens on the south coast, the chalky areas of the South Downs, as well as local acid sandy woodland areas. We are able to call on the expertise of an extensive network of reliable and skilled landscape contractors and specialists throughout the region.

Designs are predominantly for private gardens of varying sizes and styles, and we regularly collaborate with other professionals such as architects, providing landscaping detail for new developments or as a requirement of planning applications.

We are keen to work with clients who have an interest in sustainability and encouraging wildlife habitats. As well as producing comprehensive garden design schemes, we offer planting design and implementation as a separate service.
